Our club has been saddened by the news of the loss of John Hall who passed away on 2nd August at his house in South Africa, aged 83.

John picked up his first lacrosse stick in 1953 when he joined the Charlie Middleton juniors at Mellor. He quickly developed into one of the clubs most exciting and inspirational attack players, progressing from Cheshire U15's Captain in 1957, onto the Cheshire Open Age Schoolboys and in 1960 he was selected to play for the Cheshire Senior men's first team.

He then moved to London to study at London University and played for the South of England and England in 1962. He returned to Mellor to play an integral part in the club's successes in the 1960's, which included six consecutive league titles, with his consistent goal scoring record. He was renowned for his speed, power, and unpredictable skill, which all defenders found extremely difficult to contend with.

John also played for England in 1965, 1967 and 1972, together with several games for the North of England before his retirement in 1975.

The Mellor Lacrosse Club community extend our sympathies to his family and friends.
