What next Timperley? Shall we play you on a beach next?? Cos you seem very keen on mixing up surfaces and now even dimensions!
For some reason the opponents groundsman had provided us with the narrowest and shortest pitch, a leveller perhaps...nah, don't think so.
Then they provided us with a ref, who has previous from our last meeting, he was getting all bent out of shape with some of our play. Last time, I aired on the side of 'well they're giving up their time voluntarily...', after this morning, I can't be as balanced. Good on Noah for challenging his officiating.
On to the match, we won! We wanted this to be a statement victory and I think it most definitely was. Some of the play was the best we've seen this season, the boys used their voices, they bent their backs and won the ground balls, they showed understanding and tactical awareness, and most of all they fought and competed like true MudDogs!
It'll never be perfect, and there were pockets of the match where some complacency crept in and we didn't compete as hard, and the opponents tails went up, but for the overall shape of the game, a thoroughly deserved win.
