Last time we faced Brooklands, only a last second Sully winner was the difference, this time out, things were a lot more calmer. When Mellor raced to a 5-0 lead, the tone of the match was set.
We weren't at our most fluent best, and at times we stuttered and stalled, but when we did click we clicked. Our defence too strong for Brooklands, restricting their opportunities, meant Hayden didn't need a repeat of his heroic saves from the last match. In fact he got some outfield play in the 4th quarter, with some confidence Brooklands wouldn't make a comeback. Oliver stepping into goal and managing a 4th quarter shut out. Hugo top-scored with excellent work coming from X to score some of his goals. Something we spoke of in the week.
At times Ed went on his now customary one-man crusades and Louis might still be feeling motion sickness after he circulated the crease countless times like he was stuck in a spin-dryer! Individual plays will always have their benefit to a scoreline, but it was the team plays that caught the eye during this match. At times we took what was learnt in the classroom on Thursday night and actually applied to game-time.
More will be required come Flags, but for now we can look back on another victory, our 11th consecutive win! and we can look back on a hugely successful 'league' season. Our Muddogs should be immensely proud of how far they have come this season, the improvements made both individually and collectively is clear to see. Just one more match. One more.
