The under 14s are on a roll, this morning saw another dominant display. Half term reduced both squads, and the opposition could only muster 9 players, so into an 8 v 8 match we went. The pitch had the potential to be a leveller, as it was heavy, the grass was long(ish), however it was just another area of the match that we came out on top of.
As mentioned in previous reports with our squad size, the coaching team do an amazing job of rotating the older 14s for the younger 14s, minutes on the pitch largely equal. The score line was convincing and that enables us to play lacrosse the way we want it to be played, by the team and not any one individual.
The goals scored today and there was plenty of them, were crafted with the coach's instructions in their ears. Moving the ball, rotating it, making one more pass, setting the picks and taking the shot when it was the right time to do so.
One incident that has to be retold, and one that we've not yet seen before, Hugo seemingly tackling himself at one point, with no other player within 10 yards of him, rucking it in spectacular style, our 'impartial' ref (his brother) struggling to supress his amusement. A rogue boot lace the apparent cause and not sniper fire. Only Hugo...
We'll have tougher matches, which we say each week, so on another day we will have to be ready to compete, today wasn't really that day.
The recorded score line was 4 - 20. My very cold hands on the side lines actually recorded 22 goals to Mellor, so according to my little notebook...
