Not the result we wanted but nevertheless a fabulous game to watch and a fantastic display of lacrosse by both teams. Mellor made a storming start - frustratingly 4 shots on goal just couldn’t find the back of the net, but defence was strong and kept Oxton to only a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarter 2 saw Oxton get into their stride and despite a number of fantastic saves by Liv, Oxton increased their lead to 6-1.
Mellor fought back in quarter 3 putting the brakes on Oxton’s advance. A great goal by Annabel finally put Mellor on the scoresheet to make it 9-1 going into the final quarter. But Mellor couldn’t stem the flow of Oxton goals and despite an awesome goal hustled by Harley and some amazing goalkeeping the match finished 14-2 to Oxton. A tough match in tough conditions, but overall a great team effort by our young U18s against a talented Oxton side.
